A classic, velvety Alfredo sauce that’s rich, creamy, and perfect for coating your favorite pasta. Made with just a few simple ingredients—unsalted butter, heavy cream, garlic, and Parmesan cheese—this sauce brings restaurant-quality comfort to your home kitchen. A pinch of nutmeg adds a subtle warmth that balances the creaminess.

Ingredients

• ½ cup unsalted butter
• 2 cups heavy cream
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
• Salt, to taste
• Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
• (Optional) A pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute), being careful not to brown it.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 5–7 minutes until it slightly thickens.
  • Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and fully combined.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg (if using).
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately over freshly cooked pasta. For a looser consistency, stir in a splash of reserved pasta water.

Notes

• For an even richer flavor, use high-quality Parmesan cheese and freshly cracked black pepper.
• The sauce thickens further as it stands, so it’s best enjoyed immediately.
• Adjust seasoning gradually and add pasta water to reach your desired consistency if the sauce becomes too thick.
