  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. For the topping, mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon together, then sprinkle it over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before serving.

  • For a richer flavor, add nuts or chocolate chips to the batter.
