Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking pan or a cast-iron skillet.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add Wet Ingredients
    • In a separate bowl (or large measuring cup), whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter (or oil).
  • Mix the Batter
    • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the wet mixture.
