Description
Crispy homemade tuna patties are a quick, budget-friendly dinner made with canned tuna, herbs, and seasonings. They’re ready in just 20 minutes and offer a delightful contrast of crispy outside and tender inside, perfect for both kids and adults.
Ingredients
- Canned Tuna (2 5-6oz cans)
- Dijon Mustard (2 tsp)
- White Bread (1/2 cup, torn)
- Lemon (1 tsp zest + 1 tbsp juice)
- Liquid (1 tbsp water or tuna liquid)
- Fresh Herbs (2 tbsp parsley + 2 tbsp chives/green onions)
- Seasonings (Salt, pepper, hot sauce)
- Egg (1)
- Cooking Fats (2 tbsp olive oil + 1/2 tsp butter)
Instructions
- Drain the tuna well and place in a bowl.
- Add Dijon mustard, torn bread, lemon zest, lemon juice, water or reserved tuna liquid, parsley, chives, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well, then taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Add the egg and mix again.
- Divide the mixture into 4 portions, roll into balls, then flatten.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and serve hot with lemon wedges.
Notes
- Refrigerating patties before cooking helps them hold shape better.
- Adjust hot sauce to taste for different spice levels.
- Try variations like adding feta for a Mediterranean twist or jalapeños for extra spice.
