- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth (or water)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Brown the beef:
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
- Combine ingredients:
- In the baking dish, mix the cooked beef, uncooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth (or water), garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir in optional vegetables if desired.
- Bake:
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, stir gently, and top with shredded cheddar cheese if using.
