Serve over rice or noodles for a satisfying dish everyone will love!

Ingredients

For the Steak and Vegetables:

  • 🥩 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 🌿 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 🧂 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 🌶️ 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 🟢 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 🧅 1 small onion, sliced
  • 🧄 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 🧈 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the Sauce:

  • 🥢 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 🍬 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 🥄 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for extra flavor)
  • 🌽 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 💧 1/4 cup water
  • 🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the steak:
    • Toss the sliced steak with cornstarch and salt. Let it sit for 10 minutes to tenderize.
  • Make the sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce (if using), cornstarch, water, and black pepper. Set aside.
  • Cook the steak:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the steak in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Cook the vegetables:
    • Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the bell peppers, onion, and garlic for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
  • Combine and cook:
    • Return the steak to the skillet. Pour in the sauce and stir everything together. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the steak and vegetables.
  • Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For added heat, include sliced chili peppers or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Substitute beef with chicken, shrimp, or tofu for variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave.
