Ingredients
- Minced Beef (500g, lean 5% fat)
- Olive Oil (1 tablespoon)
- Onion (1, finely chopped)
- Garlic (2 cloves, finely chopped)
- Dried Italian Herbs (2 teaspoons)
- Plain Flour (2 tablespoons)
- Beef Stock (450ml)
- Tomato Purée/Paste (3 tablespoons)
- Marmite (1 teaspoon)
- Frozen Mixed Vegetables (200g)
- Salt & Pepper (¼ teaspoon each)
Instructions
- Get your large, deep skillet hot with the olive oil. Toss in your chopped onions and let them cook for 5-6 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for just 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle dried herbs over your onion mixture. Add your beef and keep breaking up the meat clumps as it cooks until all the pink has disappeared.
- Sprinkle the flour evenly over the meat mixture and stir continuously for exactly 60 seconds. Add your tomato purée and stir for another 30 seconds until glossy. Pour in the beef stock bit by bit, stirring constantly. Add Marmite and stir. Let it simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
- Toss your frozen mixed vegetables straight into the pan, stir them through and let everything simmer for another 6-8 minutes. Add more salt or pepper if needed.

- Don’t skip the Marmite; it’s the secret to a rich flavor.
- Break the mince properly for the best texture.
