Description

There’s something magical about the comforting embrace of a warm, cheesy casserole, especially when it’s layered with the vibrant flavors of a taco. This easy Taco Lasagna recipe transforms the beloved elements of a classic taco into a crowd-pleasing, Mexican-inspired dish that comes together in a flash.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Red Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Taco Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 can Green Chilies (Optional)
  • 1 can Black Beans
  • 6 Flour Tortillas (6-inch)
  • 1 cup Salsa
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 2 cups Shredded Mexican Cheese Blend

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until it’s no longer pink, then drain any excess grease.
  3. Sauté the chopped red onion in olive oil until it softens. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Combine the cooked ground beef, taco seasoning, green chilies, and black beans into the skillet. Pour in water and let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
  5. Line the baking dish with halved tortillas and a whole tortilla at the bottom.
  6. Layer with salsa, half of the meat mixture, sour cream, and a sprinkle of cheese. Repeat this process for another layer.
  7. Top off the lasagna with remaining salsa and cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • Ensure even distribution of the meat and beans in each layer.
  • If using corn tortillas, warm them slightly first.
  • Adjust taco seasoning based on your family’s taste.
  • Cover with foil for the first half of baking for a perfectly melted cheese top.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
