- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cinnamon chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in cinnamon chips.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface, form a circle, and cut into 8 wedges.
- Place scones on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. You can also use a mix of milk and cream for a less rich dough.
