Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Boil the water and spices. In a medium pot, bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil. Add black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Steep the tea. Introduce the smoky black tea to the mixture. Allow it to steep for 3 to 4 minutes, adjusting based on desired strength.
  3. Add milk and sugar. Stir in 1 cup of milk and 1 to 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Simmer on low for another 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Strain and serve. Remove from heat and strain the chai into mugs, enjoying the fragrant steam.
