Step-by-Step Instructions for Chocolate Turtle Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk thoroughly.
- Add eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Carefully stir in boiling water until fully incorporated. The batter will be thin.
- Divide the batter between the cake pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean.
- Cool the cakes for about 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
