- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of brown sugar with ½ cup of melted unsalted butter. Blend until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Crack 2 large eggs into the bowl along with 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of espresso powder. Mix thoroughly until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon of salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in 2 cups of chocolate chips and 1 cup of walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
- Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft. Allow to cool on sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes
For the best texture, avoid overmixing and consider chilling the dough before baking.
