Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If using a homemade pie crust, roll it out and place it into a 9-inch pie dish carefully. Trim the edges and crimp them for a decorative finish. If using a store-bought crust, fit it into the dish and proceed to the filling.
- Next, wash and peel the apples before slicing them into thin wedges. Aim for about ¼-inch thickness. Place the sliced apples in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with ½ cup sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon of nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the apples.
- Transfer the sweetened apple mixture into the prepared pie crust, distributing it evenly. Create a mounded effect in the center. Once filled, sprinkle the top with 1 tablespoon of black sugar.
- Place the pie directly in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C). Afterward, reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue to bake for an additional 35–40 minutes.
- Once baked, remove the Poison Apple Pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes.

Notes
For best results, allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes to set the filling. Use a mix of apple varieties for balanced flavor.
