  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract for extra flavor

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of cubed white bread and ¼ cup of raisins.
  3. Warm 2 cups of milk and ¼ cup of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Pour the warm milk and butter mixture over the bread and raisins; let it sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Add ¼ cup of sugar, 2 slightly beaten eggs, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, and ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg to the soaked mixture.
  6. Grease a casserole dish with butter and pour the pudding mixture into it, smoothing the top.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center is firm.
  8. Prepare the vanilla sauce by combining ½ cup of butter, ½ cup of sugar, and ½ cup of packed brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Once the sauce is boiling, stir in ½ cup of heavy whipping cream.
  10. Finish the sauce with 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract before serving.
