Preparation
- Prepare the vegetables by shredding lettuce, slicing red onion, slicing the tomato, and draining the pepperoncini.
- Make the dressing by whisking mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and sugar until emulsified.
- Build the grinder salad by mixing the shredded lettuce, onion, and pepperoncini with the dressing until coated.
- Toast the roll by spreading butter or oil on the cut sides and broiling until golden.
- Layer cheese on the toasted roll, return to broiler until melted.
- Layer the meats onto the roll and return to broiler briefly for warmth.
- Add tomato slices over the meats and season with salt and pepper.
- Top with grinder salad mound and drizzle extra dressing if desired.
- Close the sandwich and let it rest for several minutes before serving.
