Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Melt butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and sauté onions for about 20 minutes until caramelized.
- Stir in garlic, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 more minutes, then remove from heat.
- Cook Italian sausage in a separate skillet over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until no pink remains. Drain excess fat.
- In a bowl, combine the sausage with the cooled onion mixture and Gruyère cheese.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface until smooth and cut into 4x6 inch rectangles.
- Place filling on one end of each pastry rectangle, fold over and seal edges with a fork.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and place filled rolls on the baking tray.
