Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt 4 tablespoons of preferably Irish butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sauté 1 cup of diced yellow onion for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
  4. Stir in 10 ounces of shredded green cabbage and 0.5 teaspoon of sea salt, cooking for 5-6 minutes.
  5. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for an additional minute.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low, add 20 ounces of frozen hash browns and 1.5 cups of shredded Irish cheddar cheese, stirring until combined.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded Irish cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for 4-5 minutes.
  9. Garnish with freshly chopped green onions and serve warm.
