- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water with sugar. Gently stir in active dry yeast and let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Mix in all-purpose flour and salt into the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms and knead for about 5 minutes.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean cloth. Allow to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the risen dough into small pieces, roll each into a rope and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add baking soda. Boil each bite for about 30 seconds and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle coarse sea salt over each boiled pretzel bite while still moist.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until deeply golden brown.
