Preparation Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ½ cup of warm water and 2 ¼ teaspoons of instant yeast. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Once the yeast is foamy, add ⅓ cup of unsweetened applesauce, ¼ cup of melted coconut oil, ¾ cup of coconut sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir until fully combined.
- Gradually add in 4 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Adjust the flour as necessary if too sticky.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it into a rectangular shape on a floured surface.
- Spread a thin layer of applesauce evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with ½ cup of chopped apples and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, forming a log shape. Slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Arrange the sliced rolls in a greased baking pan and let rise for another 20-30 minutes.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- While the rolls bake, prepare the frosting by beating together 4 ounces of cream cheese, ⅓ cup of maple syrup, and 4 ounces of powdered sugar until smooth.
- Once baked, spread the frosting over the warm rolls and serve.

Notes
For the best results, ensure your dough is slightly tacky, take time with rising steps, and spread the frosting while rolls are still warm for a melty texture.
